Price Match Issue - Dining Set

Last weekend my wife and I went to our local (Rocklin, CA) RC Willey to pick up a box spring and just look around. We happened to see a very nice dining set (5 pcs for $900) that we really didn't need, but like enough to purchase anyways (wee added to chairs as well) in total the cost came to just over $1000 with tax. One thing to note - we ended up buying the table from their clearance section at a reduced price as it was missing a small glass shelf below the main table top. I normally will do some looking around to make sure I am getting the best price but since this was RC Willey and they match pricing (usually) I wasn't worried. I went home and decided to look online for the same set we had just ordered to be delivered by the next Friday. I found the exact same product at another furniture store here in California (not damaged, clearance, door buster, going out of business, etc.) and the total for all 7 pieces (table and 6 chairs) was $838.21 for all brand new (no missing glass shelf) so per the RC Willey Low Price Match Guarantee I called them to inquire about matching the price and getting the whole new 7 piece set.

After being on the phone with them two different times I was told that they would not match the price and when I asked why I was told because the competitor wasn't local enough and that they only consider local for how far their delivery drivers will go..... I was confused because the other store was about 4-5 hours away but they would deliver it to my house and had local store pick up which can be done in a day so I don't see how that isn't considered local? If I had to pull an overnighter I could see that being an issue but to use that as a reason to not match a price was somewhat sheepish. Not to mention how many thousands of dollars I have spent at RC Willey over the years (Fridge, Washer/Dryer, Bedroom sets, HD TV's) that they wouldn't work with me on something so menial like a few hundred bucks off of a dining set. Well my days spending my hard earned dime at RC are over as it is apparent that their price match guarantee is all but guaranteed, and instead of trying to work with me they essentially turned me away.

I cancelled the dining set order and it is unfortunate that RC had a customer for life until this debacle.
